The Downton meal sounds wonderful. Did you use frozen fruit for the trifle?

You've inspired me to dig out my English cookbooks. I've not cooked from them in a log time, but there are some wonderful recipes in them.

Alina, I was able to get fresh strawberries , raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. I macerated half of each overnight and then mixed together with the remaining fresh. I had a few layers of pastry cream mixed with whipped cream and one layer of lemon curd. For each layer of pound cake, I drizzled the slices with Grand Marnier. I read 4 different recipes then concocted my own. It was all topped with whipped cream and fresh fruit

Thanks, that sounds wonderful. Great idea about the Grand Marnier (I love to add it to anything I can, almost like bacon in my book).

Here is the menu from the Downton Abby dinner party I went to last night:

Creamy roast leek soup
Poached salmon with hollandaise
Beef Wellington with roasted vegetables

What? No salty pudding? ;)
