Those look good. Are they for eating on something like ice cream or are they for pie?

I don't suppose you want to share your method?

PS - Asher is a bourbon snob so this would probably cost me a fortune. :D

Heat 1 cup of boubon with 2 TB sugar and dump on 1/4 cup dried cherries, let sit overnight. You can put them on ice cream, pound cake, in a Manhattan. They are very boozy. Might also be good dipped in chocolate. Or also putting a vanilla bean or star anise or cinnamon in with the bourbon.

Mary.

Tomorrow the baking starts, for all of those cookies (~1500?) I have been making the dough for the last couple of days. I made many, but not all, of my my usual ones, and one unusual one (so far) - one I added some popped amaranth to. I'll let you know how it turns out.

It turned out to be about 1700 this time, and a friend, with his younger (28, I think?) daughter came over, and we banged them out in just over 3 hours! Here's the library, showing all of the photos.

I'll just post this one, the amaranth cookie, which I have been getting some good feedback from, though nobody could figure out what "that taste is". Only one lady knew what amaranth was when I told her, and only because she had grown it as an ornamental, not a food plant. I may make another batch, this one with white sugar, so the flavor of the amaranth will come through more. I used a recipe with 1 c golden brown, 1/4 lb butter, 1 3/4 c flour, and one egg, (plus some salt, vanilla, and almonds in the original) to 3/8 c amaranth, popped in 3 batches.

Dave,

That is a ridiculous number of cookies. Are you feeding your whole hometown?

This is a light year - I used to bake 3800-4300, back when there were many more people around that I shared them with. And the family that helped me bake them isn't in the area any longer. I used to have a bunch more kinds, but I have to cut it back to the favorites, and only try one or two new ones.

Beautiful cookies Dave. Which pine nut cookie recipe do you use?
