I am also impressed you I'd all those quail eggs. You must have been cross eyed after that!

Let's just say I don't repeat dishes more than every few years and I won't miss peeling 72 quails eggs again any time soon. But they were fun and the men loved them. It was fried! It was meat! It wasn't dainty! ;)

Oh, and speaking of meat, I served one more thing I didn't have on my list because I didn't make it: Zebra and Impala Pate. Two small cans we brought back from South Africa. I even left them in the cans (very high class) because I didn't want anyone eating it by mistake.

Most people tried a small bite and that was it. Speaking of cat food, I mean. :)

Oh I wish I had known about the zebra. I know the perfect thing to serve it in. At the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek they have a large fiberglass replica of a dead zebra with the stomach area hollowed out. They use it as a feeding trough for the various raptors in the Wild Africa exhibit. I'm sure you could get someone to whip you up an impala, too.

pics!

I am so impressed, especially at the quail eggs. I would not have the patience. I am not surprised at the hot dips not going. I tend to avoid them myself. The one exception was a hot crab dip we had for book group decades ago. I am can take or leave crab, but I ate very little else that night, it was so good.

Were the mangos too ripe or just the wrong variety? Was the chorizo, the hard Spanish type and was it too spicy maybe? I love Manchego and chorizo together.

Hopefully you have some leftovers of the good stuff including the wine and can relax and have some and enjoy knowing what a beautiful and tasty party you created.
