Tonight, to no one's surprise, will be a celebration with wine: Billecart-Salmon 2000 Brut Champagne for appies and Peter Lehman's "Eight Songs" 2006 Shiraz for the beef tenderloin with carmelized mushrooms & onions, tossed greens with oil & vinegar, and stinky cheeses: gotta have a dessert but I'm still spinning my beaters on that one  :D

No alkyhol for me tonight. I've had a migraine for 2 days in a row now. Hopefully today's headache clears up before we head out to see The Hobbit

We still are unsure what we are doing. the couple we normally spend new year's with can't make it and we have no idea if 0 or 20 people will show up tonight, we just keep inviting. ;-)
To all, a happy end to this year and all the best for the year to come! (JB- hope the migraine goes away!)

As usual, we're helping the in-laws with their annual NYE party. Nothing interesting foodwise.

Thanks Jean. My migraines usually disappear when the sun goes down.

Gourmet dinner club has been gathering for the last 10 years. This year I just have to bring desert. Making CI's coconut cream pie cause its one of my faves.

We're having a very small gathering here. We'll be making champagne cocktails with inexpensive U.S. sparkling wine, saving the Moet for later in the evening. :)

It's going to be a mish mash as far as food, but I'm trying a new recipe: buffalo chicken meatballs. I have no idea if they will be good. Other than that, mostly standard dips/spreads/crackers. Oh, and I made date and Earl Grey tea madeleines. Those are quite tasty. (Not really madeleines, but made in a madeleine pan.)

Dinner for 4: Chicken Canzanese, whole wheat egg noodles, roasted carrots with balsamic brown butter glaze, apple pie and lots of red wine!

Darcie,

Are you using the buffalo chicken meatball recipe from the Meatball Factory? If so, I made them for Super Bowl Sunday earlier this year, and they were quite good.

By the way...I cannot make this pie without thinking of Frank and laughing my head off.
