Folks,

So apparently this Friday the world is going to end because of a rogue planet, or volcanos, or nuclear war, or the return of Star Search. Frankly, my real fear is that the end of the Mayan Calendar means that all of the Mexicans are going away, which would be an apocalypse indeed, at least here in California. We'd all starve.

Anyway, we're going to celebrate the End-of-the-World by having Mexican food, of course. Haven't figured out what yet, but the new Santabanez cookbook just came in from the library, so I'm sure I'll think of something.

What are you doing this Friday?

P.S. Best quote ever about the whole 2012 thing:

Quote:
12/20/12 coming around and I can't wait! I loved my old Mayan calendar, but looking at dogs playing poker for 5000 years is about all I can take. My next Mayan calendar will have MLB stats or xkcd comics.

I was thinking Mexican food would be in order but I have no special plans. I am amused by the people who are stocking up, thinking they will squeeze by the apocalypse on a technicality?

I'm thinking Mexican as well, along with something chocolate.

JB,

What do you do for Solstice?

And, most importantly, what food is involved?

Not much this year, sadly. Geekboy is still living on the other side of the state while I am here holding down my dad's fort since Mom died. Usually, I just made a quiet late-night dinner for the two of us and ... um... hung the mistletoe over the headboard. :D

It's the beginning of Agnostica, too, so maybe I'll cook up some Glöggi.

You guys have inspired me to have tacos tonight - lime-a-ritas or straight margaritas for the grown ups. That's as authentic as I get at home. 8-) Although, we had a fantastic mexican place open in a small town north of us and had a great meal there for my son's 13th b.d. last month. It's family run and pretty darn small so consistently packed. From those I know who've been to Mexico they say the food is very authentic.

Well, it's after twelve here, but then, The Mayans were on Pacific time, so there are still nearly 3 hours left.

Dave,

Actually, the Yucatan is Central time, so it's 5 minutes to the end of the world.
