I like the idea of sweet potatoes with blue cheese but one of the other sides is my friend Shannan's 3 onion, 3 cheese thing (very rich, very good) so no cheese. I like sweet pots about every way but have found that veering from the traditional flavor palette for TG does not appeal to me (I made some Indian roasted once and loved them, but thought they clashed horribly). As I am only making sweet potatoes I am willing to go all out.

I think I have made that too Amy. Also the bourbon sweet potatoes with buttered pecans are to die for (also epi).

The whole roast turkey deal is not my favorite meal but I love Thanksgiving.

Mary

PS also meant to say get we'll to Kathy last time I posted. Take good care and hope you heal quickly.

I am having Tg at my house for the first time next Friday. It will only be 10 of us. I am still trying to work it out.

Deviled eggs sounded good upthread
CC's new Ambrosia salad
Molly Steven's creamy Brussels sprouts
make ahead duchess potatoes
bacon and cornbread dressing
Kenji's broken down turkey, dry brined. You bone the breast, wrapping the breast skin around it to make a boneless breast roast, and roast the legs and thighs as well.
make ahead turkey gravy using the carcass

My sister will make rolls, cranberry sauce, and Cooking Light's streuseled sweet potato casserole (amazing!).

I am still without dessert ideas, which is not like me. I also need a good cocktail. :)

Becca,

Have you made Molly's brussels sprouts before? I personally like creamed spinach for T-Day, but Andy hates it. He's not a huge BS (ha, ha) fan either, but the description in her book makes them sound like he might be okay with them.

Have I made them? Yes! Probably dozens of times... They happen to be my husband and kids favorite veg side ever. I even converted my mother in law into a bs eater using that recipe. I believe they convert anyone with an open mind.

That said, I love pretty much any version of Brussels sprouts. The bs/pancetta/garlic pizza on serious eats is crazy good as well.

Becca, CI's new pumpkin pie recipe, the one with the fresh ginger, makes a great pudding. It's especially good if you swap out the pumpkin puree for butternut squash puree.

I don't love custard, so I have never been a pumpkin pie fan. I did just see a pumpkin mousse pie on Serious Eats that looks more up my alley. I'm thinking on it.

There's an epicurisous brussel sprout recipe with cream and pine nuts that is amazing. My kids love bs best just braised, they are growing on me but not my first vegetable choice.

We celebrated in October for the Canadian holiday. My parents however will be in town for the first time in a few years on T-day, and my brother is driving up from NY to pick them up and bring them to his place. It is also my oldest's birthday (13!) and parent teacher interview night and basketball for both boys. So if we do anything at all it will likely be on the Friday.
Based on this thread I just may stop at everyones houses for leftovers. Road trip!

Where might one find this recipe?
