Well, I ended up changing my menu as well...something about living in a landlocked state (and a remote corner of it to boot) makes one live with what one can get...

For my main I made seared scallops with salmon tartar and beurre blanc caper sauce. Twas yummy...

How was everyone else's dinner?

Well I didn't cook...just took no knead bread, macaroons and truffles to my friend's house. She had ordered a turduken from a Cajun meat supplier....it wasn't great. She was disappointed because the turkey was dry, the duck was okay and no one could discern the chicken. Fortuantely the sides and the deserts and presents were great.
I went back on christmas day and she had made posole and oyster stew for lunch....great and proves once again, it is just better when you make it yourself.
Hope you all had a great holiday. Our Gourmet Dinner club is gathering again for New Year's Eve and I am tasked with making a Plum Pudding and Hard Sauce. if anyone has a killer recipe, I'd love it. Right now I am combining a Martha Stewart version and a version the host gave me from an Australian Cookbook.

I was reading some articles about Plum Pudding yesterday, and was shocked to see that they can be made up to a year in advance, and "mellowed". So, is this for next year's party Ilene? ;)
