All,

My FIL and MIL host the neighborhood party for Rogue River Drive (Oregon) every year. So we hosted that. We do a steal-and-swap gift exchange, it's fun if sedate.

I didn't cook anything, though. My wife made Rosemary Shortbread, but my MIL was trying to clean out the freezer to make room for a 1/4 cow, and we found about 40lbs of frozen canapes so that's what we served (well, baked of course).

Since today is New Year's Day, my wife/MIL/FIL did the classic blackeyed peas and ham hocks. Since I'm not exactly into ham hocks, I dug out a Brazillian recipe for blackeyed peas and made a small portion for myself. Oh, also, sauteed winter greens.

Oh, and we had bagels & lox for breakfast. As we did on Christmas day, in fact.
