I love the matzoh brie bacon idea....so irreverant (my mother would have loved it).

I ended up making a carrot cake to bring to friend's for dinner (carrots/bugs bunny). Its a recipe I hadn't made in 35 years because it used to be requested by everyone for their birthday and I just basically got sick of it. It is still a good one.

Hope you all had a great holiday

Had our usual Easter dinner. Granddaughter has strep throat and the baby has a viral infection so that was a disappointment. I made the lamb cake especially for him. Wonder how long it will keep. It was such a nice day most of us ate on the porch and the kids on the patio. Tday it's back to dreary and rainy.

PS - Fuzzy, your asparagus looks wonderful!

Fitzie,

Yeah, I wasn't going to do asparagus originally, but I went to the store and the youngest Delta asparagus was there ... skinny as a pipe cleaner (do they still sell pipe cleaners?). It only needed about 5 minutes of steaming.

I'm still eating it. Just put it on pizza.

Yes, but they call them "chenille stems", now.

Fuzzy, it's true. They're in all the craft stores in a gazillion different colors.

Well, I made my lamb last night for dinner. Baaaaaaaah....

Served it with garlic and lemon roasted new potatoes and roman artichokes. Why did I ever think I wasn't in the mood for lamb?!

But, Andy did enjoy the deep dish pizza very much. I think I've decided to just not be a slave to holiday traditions. Thanksgiving clambake here I come!

Dude, I spent four years working at Michaels. My specialty was jewelry-making, but I'm fully qualified to answer your glue, paper, polymer clay, fabric painting, face painting, tole painting, spray painting questions. I know where to find the jingle bells, pom-poms, craft foam, googly-eyes, embossing tools, transfer paper, picture hooks, window markers, cross-stitch canvas, and that 10-inch styrofoam ball your kid needs for his solar system project. I can even discuss the virtues of Wilton products with a straight face. :D Besides, a gold glitter chenille stem is pretty useless for cleaning your pipe.

Amy,

Are clams in season in November? Well, I suppose they're never in season in Colorado ...

I will not, I repeat will not, ever again make a scratch cake for my extended family. Made the tuxedo cake that Becca posted. It was excellent, cost a fair bit to make and a fair bit of time, and not only did no one eat it (except me and hubby), they instead all ate the box cake with canned frosting made not by me and then my sister forgot to put my cake back in the fridge and it sat out all night, so it went in the chicken bucket the next morning.
Lesson learned, I'm going to stop forcing scratch cakes on them.
Rant over....I knew you guys would understand. :D
