I'm looking for desserts that would work. I did make Ina Garten brownies with matzoh cake meal and no leavening, chocolate chocolate chip meringues, macaroons, 1/2 dipped in chocolate and ice cream (mint chip). I decided not to do a flourless chocolate cake this year. Just trying to mix it up, but its hard to be creative when you're facing matzo cake meal... and somewhat picky people (probably wouldn't eat pavlova). :shock:

Does it have to be something baked? If not, how about CI's Dark Chocolate Mousse? It's soooo good!

I don't know if you have an ice cream maker, but I have a killer recipe for Bittersweet Chocolate Ice Cream.

I also have a great recipe for Bittersweet Chocolate Truffles.

Hmmmm.... notice that these are all chocolate recipes - unusual for me, isn't it? LOL!

Okay, I'll redeem myself, and add a few non-chocolate ideas - just to prove I have some!
-Raspberry or Strawberry Fools
-Melons with Ginger Syrup
-Cheesecake with a macaroon or nut crust
-Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies with Chocolate Chips or Chocolate Glaze (uh-oh - there's that chocolate again!)

Let me know if you're interested in any of the above ideas - I have recipes for most of them.

Nancy,

Haven't been kosher about the desserts for years, so nothing I've done recently. However, some general ideas:

* Florentines (the cookie)
* Zabaglione
* Matzoh s'mores

I just saw these flourless chocolate cookies from François Payard:

I made this once and a Jewish friend said it would be perfect for passover - it's Gale Gand's polenta chocolate cake. Kind of like a cross between a brownie and a flourless cake

It's important to get the cornmeal fully incorporated.

What are the food rules regarding a proper Passover dessert?

No leavening can be used.

I typically bring Ina Garten's macaroons and fresh fruit.

I thought you couldn't use wheat flour - hence all the flourless cake recipes. If that is not true, couldn't you make shortbread?

Thanks, everyone.
@Meryl: As you may have guessed by now, I am a chocoholic too, so thanks for the chocolate suggestions. I made mint chip peppermint stick ice cream already (snuck in the chocolate), as well as the things already mentioned. Fwiw, David Lebovitz' chocolate ice cream is amazing if you don't already have access to it.

I decided to make Marilyn's toffee, figuring that there's no corn syrup in it. I also didn't want to make the matzoh "crack" (a matzoh toffee like thing) because I don't like it so much and so I made what I consider to be the real thing. Peanut butter cookies had occurred to me, but I heard that peanuts are not allowed. Go figure. I am not very observant, (hence the peppermint pieces made with corn syrup in the ice cream and the CI macaroons also with corn syrup) but some people might be.
Happy Holidays to all. (Gonna buy me some easter chocolate tomorrow :mrgreen: )
