I ordered food for a bunch of work friends once and ordered the bacon for the caesar on the side in consideration of a some Jewish friends. They were found later that night popping the bacon back like candy.

Well, they're sweets, but they're such nerdy sweets they're OK:
clickety

Folks,

Well, I finally made the HudHud ganouj (which seemed perfect, since it's Persian and vegetarian -- more on the other thread). Also had it with pita, and with pumpkin & cheese kibbeh. The latter was from a clever recipe in Spice cookbook, in which you make the kibbeh in little ramekins. Saves hours of shaping.

Kris make hamentashen: blackberry, olalieberry, and gianduja. The last were irresistable, even if they're impossible to say. (say "gianduja hamentashen" 5 times fast, I dare you).

i remembered that I have a cookbook - Cucina Ebraica- Flavors of the Italian Jewish Kitchen. Checked it and the Purim menu is:
Pasta squares in broth with spinach
pastry turnovers
roast lamb with rosemary, garlic and lemon
braised spinach stems
artichokes with mint and garlic, roman style
Haman's ears
almond pudding
The author, Joyce Goldstein, mentions that in most of the Sephardic and Ashkenazic world it is a vegetarian meal, that in Italy they serve meat.
Let me know if you want me to scan any of these recipes.

Oreccie de Amman- cookies that represent the ears of the wiched minister Haman. A strip of dough is formed into a circle or a butterfly to look like an ear, then fried in oil.

I guess that only helps if you know who Haman is. :D
