OMFG...I cannot believe some people found those to be remotely in the semblance of acceptable taste.

Okay, the shower is this weekend, and I think I've finalized the menu. Thoughts?

Appetizers

Mozzarella Cherry Tomato Tartlettes in Puff Pastry
Zucchini cakes with a greek yogurt/dill sauce
Salmon mousse on cucumber rounds with dill

Salads

Caesar salad
Haricot-Vert and Corn Salad with roasted artichoke hearts and tarragon-lemon vinaigrette
Pasta Salad with Mozzarella, Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Olives

Sandwiches

Brie with apple and watercress in a Dijon-honey vinaigrette on walnut/raisin bread
Grilled chicken with roasted artichoke hearts and tarragon-lemon vinaigrette on rosemary focaccia
Shrimp salad with caper mayonnaise, avocado and arugula on seeded rolls

Dessert

“Vert-vert”: Pistachio cake with pistachio fondant
Fruit tartlettes with pastry cream

My co-hosts are supplying a punch and wine.

Amy, that sounds awesome (and if you could post recipes or sources for them it would be great for those of us not attending).

My only input is that all of this (except the caesar) are upscale gourmet (and sound wonderful) but if you have plain eaters they might find it a bit off-putting. Seeing as you know your guests and their tastes though I'm sure it won't be an issue. I know for my circle of friends there would be a couple asking where the egg salad on white bread was. :o

What time should we be there? :D

Thanks Jean.

My concession to "bland" was the caesar salad. I know most of the people coming, and they have fairly sophisticated palates.

I think it sounds amazing, worth sitting through a baby shower for. And I think that, although the food is sophisticated, there aren't any scary ingredients. Lots of fiddly little work, is your cost host helping with assembly and such? Is everything made ahead of time? I am sure you have that all in hand but you should also have time to play fun games like eating chocolate pudding out of a diaper.

Sonuds wonderful!

My invitation was lost in the mail, I presume.

It sounds sophisticated yet still accessible. I've usually found that if you stick with sort of Mediterranean flavors, most people are familiar enough with them to enjoy them even if the application is a bit "fancy-schmancy", and shower food should be just a tad fussy.

Hehe, probably way more opinion than you needed or wanted.

Caesar salad is bland?

Well, maybe predictable is a better word...

I wanted the menu to be accessible, so thanks for the feedback. If it were up to me I'd be doing things like duck rillettes and seviche, but I know not everyone likes those sort of things.

I encountered one major problem today...my 5 qt. KA died, and I loaned my other KA to someone I cater with. Fortunately, Andy is picking that one up on his way home, but it put a serious cramp in my production schedule.
