Ok, since the blasphemous V word showed up on another thread (Velveeta), I feel more comfortable raising the topic of jello shots. I feel like I have to hurry to explain that the recipe that I am considering is a surprisingly good one I made before that uses the dusty box of knox gelatin residing in my ingredients drawer (right next to the unopened pectin), fresh lemon (uses up more of my lemons), lime juice, sugar and, of course tequila. I may just make the drink version instead, but like the silliness of the shots.

Never been a jello shot fan...seems like a waste of good booze to me... ;)

I think I'm going to make Frank's chili for the game. It's really good, and most certainly better for me than wings.

At that point "my dear" it ceases to be chili...enjoy your bean stew! ;) ;)

And who is coming to your rescue in the Jello shot department...? That would be me. It is a wacky alcohol delivery system and sometimes that just feels right. I made some for a friend's Mexican themed b-day party a while back and they were a hit, very potent though. I can't get flavored jello here so I went for this recipe:

Margarita Jelly Shot
1 ounce lime juice
1 ½ ounces simple syrup
1 ¼ ounces unflavored gelatin package
Mix into a measuring cup or bowl and let sit for one minute then microwave on high for 30 seconds. Stir until the gelatin is dissolved. Now add the following ingredients:
3 ounces Tequila
2 ounces Cointreau
drops of yellow food coloring (optional for presentation)
Stir the mixture thoroughly and then pour into an ice tray and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. (Overnight would be best.) This should make 8 1 ounce servings.

OK, now I have to go take cover somewhere before the good taste posse comes to get me :)

Touche...

@Mary - do you have any trouble getting those shots out of the ice cube tray? My friend used to make Jello shots and always put them in teeny plastic cups. It was hell to get them out of there without contorting your tongue in a way that made guys stare at you...

I think I put the bottom of the trays into warm water and they popped right out. I then put them in normal shot glasses, I thought they looked pretty cool but, then again, I was drunk.

Too funny  I'll have to decide. Mary, that recipe looks a lot like mine.
