Alina:

Question about the pork recipe: doesn't the sour orange juice eat away the foil?

Not at all. Never had any problems and my pan barely needs to be cleaned after. (I use a large SS Calphalon Roaster usually). I am obsessive so I use one sheet the long way and then another the short way, heavy duty Reynolds foil.

Alina,

Well, I'm very happy to have found bottled sour orange juice at the local Mexican market. It's marinating away now. Will take pics!

I always make it for my son's birthday on 12/24, but this year he is in Toronto with his girlfriends family. My daughter will be in San Diego with her in-laws and my stepson with his mother. They were all here last year so I can't complain. It will be just Steve and I, so we are skipping hoopla this year. The entire family is going to Thailand at the end of January for my stepson's wedding so we'll be together there.

OK, Thailand doesn't suck.

Alina,

I finally posted my pictures and write up of the Cuban dinner.

Part I: http://www.fuzzychef.org/consider-a-cuban-christmas/

Part II: Has the pork in it, and links to your recipe: http://www.fuzzychef.org/cuban-christmas-part-2/

Josh it all looked great. I am getting my half a leg this Thursday, will slash and loaded with garlic (probably 3 heads) on Friday, roast it on Monday and take it out of the marinade and onions, which I save after it is cooked, slice the roast and then reheat it the marinade and broil the pork chunks and serve it and Tuesday evening. I'll also be making the black beans Monday because better the next day and the rice on Tuesday, both of those in two IPs. Hoping to bake some Cuban bread on Tuesday as well.
