Tim,

Geez. I didn't know about Le Sanctuaire. When were you last here?

Anyway, food shopping:

  • SF Ferry Building with everything
  • Latin American markets in The Mission, such as the 22nd Street Market
  • Chinese supermarkets, such as Sunset Super and New May Wah
  • Chinese kitchen tools stores, such as Kamei or The Wok Store
  • Bakeries, such as Boulange (multiple locations) Arizmendi, and Acme
  • Chocolate at Fog City News, Saratoga, Tcho, CocoLuxe and Charles
  • Farmer's markets aren't so great in February; better skip it

Oh, which reminds me: SF is also the origin of "gourmet" ice cream in the USA. You can go to the original Swensen's on Union, or Mitchell Brothers, Bi-Rite, Humphrey Slocombe, Polly Ann's or many others (for such a cold windy city, we do love our ice cream).
