I bought some rhubarb, from Holland not local. I am making a Cooking Light recipe for rhubarb pudding cake. It is in the oven now and smells pretty good.

Mary,
My mind went blank for a minute and I thought you meant Holland, Michigan. I was thinking wow, that is early for us to have Rhubard already. LOL

I suppose I could eat some of the dandelions that are already popping up here, but other than the tulip leaves, nothing else is green here yet.

I hope my rhubarb comes back this year. It has become overrun by a nearby peony (both planted long before I got here). I may try to move it so it can flourish as we both really like it.

I've not seen any good produce for quite some time. I think my body would go into shock if I ate a green veggie at this point. Sigh.

The rhubarb thing was pretty good. Like a little spring tonic.

Mary

PS I never knew there was a Holland Michigan.

Folks,

California rhubarb is already harvesting. $3/lbs, organic.

Talk about local... my neighbor popped her head out the window yesterday and told me to pick some of the ramps she has growing by her steps. I think I will make some spätzli's with them tonight. Now we're talking Spring!

That looks fantastic... I could use the ramps for that!

Mary

If I wanted to make one big tart (I bought a tart pan with a removable bottom, about 12") would I have to make a half recipe???

Fuzzy, that looks great. I think I'll make it for dinner this week. Our asparagus is $1.69 a pound now. I doubt I will find the garlic stalks, but I have some really nice spring onions. I'll have to add bacon or my husband won't think he's had dinner!

Our "Last frost" date is May 6th. Fresh veg is a while off yet. Bah.
