So, what is your scale of choice for tiny amounts like 5 grams of salt? I'm in the market for one and the cost varies widely, so trying to buy one that will be accurate and hopefully run on AAA batteries or similar.

I bought the same one as Emilie. I really like it. I save the extra I cut to fit parchment to my cookie sheets to use on the scale. This is the one I bought. I also bought the weight to calibrate it.

Jean,

I use this one for glaze ingredients:

I'm so happy with it I buy one for each student when I teach glazemaking classes.

Difference between Emilie's and mine are that mine goes up to a tad over 2 lbs. where as the other one is 1.3 lbs. Josh's does less than half a pound but will down to 0.01 instead of 0.1 grams. The cover on mine doubles as a platform which is nice for bigger items. Now you have lots of choices.

thanks everyone. I need to weigh the tiny bowl I would use but am leaning towards the one Josh has since Alina pointed out the .01 versus .1 difference. Although that might send me over the edge when doing a Bouchon recipe. ;-)

okay, so I have the one Alina and Emilie have in my cart but stuck on what calibration weight to get. 50 or 500?

Mine is 100 grams and I can't see much advantage to a 500 gram weight unless it is the preferred calibration weight for that model.
