Tim,

Oooooooooh. I so have to get to the Ferry Building.

The thing to do with taters that size is to roast them whole with smashed garlic cloves, bay leaves, salt and pepper. Or make French potato salad.

I was at the farmers market this morning. We also have a grass fed beef vendor. I bought a pound to try. I also got some yellow wax beans, tomato's, green and yellow zuccini and some baby pan pan squash.

Many vendors had fresh rasberries, blueberries and still some strawberries.

Love the FM!

Laurie

Strawberries, peaches, pears, and nectarines abound. Langoustines the size of small lobsters are now in season (I prefer them smaller) along with smaller scallops.

However with it being later summer in France, many vendors are on vacation. Must be nice....

All,

Managed to hit our neigborhood FM this week. Finds:

  • Ablion strawberries, still a little tart but good
  • Zucchini Romani, for $1.50/lbs
  • Holy Basil, huge bunch for $2
  • Purslane, which I can't seem to get otherwise

However, it ended up being a very expensive shopping trip. I handed one of the vendors a $20 in place of a $1 without realizing it.

Hi,

We found the first green zebra tomato of the season this morning. Yes, it's neon green and wonderful!

That sucks. That's the one advantage to us having 1-all our bills a different colour and 2 - $1 and $2 are no longer bills but coins.

I went to a huge market in Keady, Ontario while camping. Lots of vendors in one part selling the normal flea market treasures (got a ton of Archie comics and some books for me) and some pepperettes from a small butcher's stall along with fruit from various vendors. We are seeing raspberries, the last of the strawberries, green and yellow beans, lots of lettuce (although waning as they are bolting in the heat) and the start of tomato season.

Kids wanted to get a puppy and a bunny, the latter being from the livestock barns. Um,boys- those aren't pets .

Got first decent tomatoes today. Had them sliced with s&p and sweet basil. Heaven.
