Looks like it starts this week

Spring is Here... and So Are the Salmon
Wegmans stores are celebrating one of the glories of spring – the arrival of wild-caught Alaska salmon. This week marked the first shipment of fresh Sockeye Salmon – caught in pristine waters of the Copper River that are sustainably managed as mandated by the state of Alaska.

“The salmon return to their native waters after spending their lives in the open ocean,” said Carl Salamone, vice president seafood. “This strenuous journey requires a higher oil content in the fish resulting in a rich, flavorful, unforgettable dining experience for our customers.”

At this time, 34 of Wegmans’ 75 stores are carrying the first fish from this year’s season. If the season goes well for fishermen and there is adequate supply, more stores will receive the fresh fillets.

And the really good news? This is just the beginning of the wild-caught salmon season. Copper River King salmon, Yukon River Ketta Salmon, and Coho Salmon from a variety of locations will arrive in the coming months. But the seasons are short and the supply is limited, so customers should be aware – when it’s gone, it’s gone.
I'm lobbying for a trip to the Wegmans down the road (or the other one up the road).

I hope my Wegman's is on the list....I'll go for Copper River Salmon but I'm not crazy about the Coho.

I checked with two of my local places that tend to carry CR Salmon and they are not going to carry it this year because they would have to sell it for $30/lb..........yikes.

Hopefully Giant Eagle will have some. They are a larger chain and maybe they can sell it for only $25/lb or something.....

Apparently some people do have their destiny given to them at birth.

Wegmans had Copper River sockeye for about $25/lb; King was about $27.

We got a 1-lb whole filet to make into gravlax and another filet about 3/4 pound to grill for tonight's dinner. No cedar plank, just salt & pepper and skin-down onto an oiled fish grate. Some yellow squash on the side brushed with italian dressing. Wendell got the grilled skin in his kibble.
