So I posted a response on eGullet yesterday and accidentally double clicked when I hit submit. I immediately edited the second response to apologize for the double post. Then I get a PM from one a moderator chiding me for not reporting the "glitch" to them so they could take care of it. WTF? Does eG really need the posting gestapo?

I've gotten those. It is a cut'n'paste job, and I don't think it is intended to chide you, it just reminds you that you can flag your own posts for deletion. I, for example, hadn't realized you could. I think it is just a little too written in the authority voice, but unintentionally so.

Well why didn't they just say that? The way I understood it they were looking for problems with the bb software and I should have reported the "error" if there were one. Maybe I'm just dense. :(

This is a conundrum. I thought I *was* a geek. I guess I am not the droid they were looking for...

Well, then, you know that geeks ability to communicate with each other is equally dismal. I'm currently managing a team of about 10 s/w devs. I could go on at length....

So the "moderators" of TOBB are continuing to do their best to shut down complaints. Re: service, unrequested books. They recently said for people to contact customer service instead of complaining on the board and to speak only about food related topics. As if contacting customer service will be a successful method for achieving results. I do like getting recipes from there, but I'm close to leaving. I no longer get the magazine. And now that it was brought to my attention, MJ is getting to me too...

Nancy,

I find it interesting that they're willing to pay staff to spend time deleting people's posts, instead of just shutting down the board. You wonder what goes on in those Boston offices ...

Phoenix,

Yes, that's one of the Great Truths. "Idiots are inscrutable"
