... and they want their HTML1 back. I am looking at you, Penzey's.

<rant>
I hate this website. I think it every time I have to use it. I want to call up and say "Look, I will code you a new web catalog. Really. It isn't that hard." I want to buy inferior, grocery store spices to save myself the annoyance of dealing with this interface. Hate hate hate.
</rant>

I just can't help it. I had to get that off my chest.

I end up placing a massive order once a year or so in order to not have to order anything else the entire year.

On the other hand, the hideous abuse of flash, javascript, ASP and mysql that is the sur le table website is a lot worse. At least at penzeys.com, you can actually complete an order.

Agreed. Sur La Table has it's own problems - it's a bandwidth hog and much more pretty than functional. But the Penzey's website just annoys me. How about actual categories in the drop down? That would be a simple fix! If you search for "Penzey's Sausage" on Google you get a result page with all the sausage seasonings. However, their search doesn't work that well - you have to leave the site. And shopping for "Spices A-E" is really not efficient.

And I use ,http://www.savoryspiceshop.com. Of course I can go directly to one of their stores, since they blanket the Denver metro area, but I like their quality better than Penzy.

I've been shopping from myspicesage.com . They've had the more unusual spices when Penzey's did not. I like their quality and their plastic bags, easy to freeze. And the shipping is free. I agree with you about Penzeys. I wrote to them about it a few years back after being completely frustrated. I end up doing as Lisa, ordering only once a year mainly for their granulated garlic.
