Amy,

Personally I would snag both domains (and let me recommend Gandi.net as domain registrar), and have ah-cuisine.com foward to ahcreativecuisine.com. If you register with Gandi, they can handle the forwarding. Also, consider ahcuisine.us, which is available.

ahcreativecuisine.com is less likely to be confused with ahcuisine.com, which is also the site of a catering chef, even if he is in Spain. However, it's harder to fit on a business card.

Yah, but nobody ever types in a .us name.

Really, it is all about finding you. One plus is that google heavily skews results to local results, so people in your neck of the woods (or in the US for that matter) searching for ah cusine will likely get yours as a top result (after a little while anyway) then the Spanish one. And I like the point about the business card :)

I hear ya...

Any other thoughts about a name? I mean, I like AH Cuisine...simple, straightforward (I can "see it" in a logo) and is better than the harsh sound of my full name (thanks Andy for a difficult last name, although not less harsh sounding than my maiden name), but I'm not married (ha, ha) to it. AH Creative Cuisine sounds like it's trying too hard. Oy.

Amy,

You're the marketing geek. However, I find in a one-person consulting business the name of the business doesn't really matter as long as it's not bizarre or difficult to remember. In general, your customers are going to remember you and your name, and most of your real advertising will be word-of-mouth. Heck, for 8 years I ran a consulting business called "Aglio Database Solutions", and if that's not a terrible name, I don't know what is.

From that perspective AHCuisine follows nicely the Amy --> Initials --> business name strategy. You just can't have the most obvious domain since AH is also "Ah!". FWIW, AmyHCuisine is also available.

Yes, I am a marketing geek...and we like feedback. I didn't spend hundreds of hours in focus groups to hear myself talk...

I'm leaning towards AHCulinaryConcepts...broad enough to encompass things beyond catering, but a little provocative.

Amy,

AHCulinary.com is available if you grab it now.

BTW, there are scammy advertisers who scan the internet for people talking about domains, and snag them ahead of you and then try to hold it hostage. So personally, I'd make a decision on a domain and snag it in the next couple days. Domains are only $15 each; better to grab one and not need it than lose it.
