If you still watch ATK or subscribe to Cook’s Illustrated, you may be familiar with or a fan of Yvonne Ruperti. Since her name disappeared from the CI masthead awhile back, I did a search and found her living in Sinapore and writing a chocaholics column at Serious Eats.

The way she used to stare at Chris during their segments made me think there was something creepy going on...

Which lead to me ordering her cookbook, which I really don't need, but....

I don't really think of Yvonne as a bread baker, so I am not tempted by her cookbook, but I will be there if she does a chocolate cookbook. I did not make all that many of Yvonne’s recipes, bit I have enjoyed her Ultimate chocolate cupcakes and Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake and will miss her presence because, at the risk of sounding sexist, I believe that there is a bit too much testosterone in the test kitchen that has been dominated by Kenji, Bryan, Keith, David, Andrew, and Charles for the past few years.

That's so funny you would say that....I always had the impression that he was creeping herout! And then I would get creeped out.

She was so nice -- and an amazingly good baker and dessert maker. I can still remember her butterscotch pudding (not ever published since it was decided that asking people to make a caramel from scratch was too difficult). Chris regards himself as a good baker, so there was some tension there when he disagreed with her approach or would ask her to try something new when she had finished with the recipe.

Dessert baking is still in good hands. I made Andea's dressed up carrot cake for dinner group to such positive comments that one of our vegan members just had to have a taste.

Good to know...although the book was so cheap it seemed crazy not to at least try it. ;-)
I'll pick it up this weekend in Chicago and report back.

Jim, what issue is that carrot cake from? looks yummy.
