Even outside copyright issues, breaking the Internet, etc. it is unbelievable that a process that tasks the government to act in a legal capacity on behalf of companies interest without due process is pretty crazy, even in a context of company against company. What if fine cooking claims CI copied one of their recipes? Without due process, significant damage could be done to CI (or someone you actually like :) ) mostly as a matter of corporate war. Or if joe blow claims infringement by Universal. The content owners should be as scared as those who are just content carriers ( such as forums )

UP with Chris Hayes on MSNBC just had a great discussion on it....presented both sides and I came away against it. appears to not solve the problem and create more problems.

I've heard it said quite a few times that SOPA is just smokescreen for PIPA.
