Too late? Rarely recently has TOBB done such a good and quick job of removing spammers from the main BB. If only - - -

Anyway, I was unable to login to my account information today and a fairly quick phone call and some extended wait time with a very efficient and pleasant woman resulted in them determing that it was technical glitch. Why oh why couldn't they have operated like this more recently.

When I treid to enter a new post to alert others, I was unable to do that without hijacking another thread. Might I be the last post????????

I thought this post on TOBB by Ivy was very interesting and infomative. Seems that CK is in the dark on this decision...

"There have been a lot of auxiliary discussions about the closing of the board but I wanted to report the following. At a recent book signing/talk, someone asked a question about why this bulletin board is closing. There were visible & audible reactions (smirks & sighs) from the panelists (cast members) with the exception of Mr. Kimball, who said, "this is why I come to these things, so I can find out what is going on in my company. I am only the CEO." He went on to say he didn't know anything about it, and quickly Jack Bishop interrupted with why the board is closing (bad software, out of business company etc).

Actually, I believe that CK wasn't aware the board was being shut down. I don't think he knew it existed in the first place.

That was my read.

At the signing table, my husband who was hovering, asked CK more about the BB, and Jack, seated next to Chris, cut in and said, "oh it's not a big deal, only about 200 people on it." I wasn't at the signing table as I was making my way through the crowd to meet up with hubby, who, btw, is not a cook and was simply my ride out of Harvard Square!

Considering they didn't use it to engage their customers, and didn't promote it in any way, it is likely a poor proposition, money wise (given that they can't just let it be community run; most companies can't bring themselves to do that). Of course, they probably could utilize it much better, but given the circumstances, I think they should have done it some time ago.

A BB can cut both ways sometimes. It can be used as a platform against the company (rightly or wrongly being irrelevant for this discussion) and can get *too* much customer engagement, which is showing right now. If I ran such a company, I would not, I think, offer a BB unless it was strongly patrolled and I had employee's who directly engaged customers to both build customer loyalty and to get feedback (though it is feedback from a very limited demographic)
