Here is the latest offering on the Yahoo! site:

Store products that are better than homemade.

Because who has time to make whipped cream? That takes 2 to 3 minutes, time I just can't afford to spare!

Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry is NOT buttery, it's "shortening-y" (oh, it is an OK product, but to say it's better than homemade is a stretch).

I can't vouch for Rao's sauce, but for $9 I will take 20 minutes to make a quick homemade tomato sauce.

Between articles like this and the gawdawful "Eat This, Not That" guy, I feel Yahoo! food section is among the worst on the web.

Yep, it's Monday and I'm cranky again. I'm going to apply for my curmudgeon permit this week, I think.

Any respect I had for BonAppetit is completely gone.

Bizarre ... in the whipped cream section,

Quote:
If you don't have time to whip your own (which is still best, by far), try this creme chantilly, made with real cream and sugar.

Which totally defies the title of the 'article'. I think someone wrote a list of great store-bought items (In Their Opinion, of course), and some editor added the "better than homemade" onto it.

I tried Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry again for the last time recently. I made Dorie's mustard straws with it. It has no redeeming value except looks I guess. It is like eating cotton...only full of fat. There is no flavor.

and really whipped cream? Awful article, for sure.
