So I had a followup Dr's (Physicians Assistant) appointment today. My cholesterol is 176 which is what it's been practically my whole life. The PA wants to put me on Cholesterol medicine because my good cholesterol is low even though I take a Fish Oil pill every morning. I tell the PA that I make myself a Banana Smoothie everyday for breakfast. She tells me that Bananas are high in Cholesterol. I don't think I trust this persons judgment anymore.

It does exist in very small amounts in some plants: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholesterol but essentially you are correct. I would write a letter to her and the physician versus an email or phone call as they cannot ignore letters.
I (and many others on a health forum I'm on) have had good results on our HDL cholesterol levels by adding magnesium. Some brands are better than others for being absorbed and not causing digestive issues. I like this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B ... =UTF8&th=1 Many believe that many minerals have been depleted in our soils and through our filtered waters. Here is an article on magnesium deficiencies. http://www.lifeextension.com/magazine/2 ... es/page-01 Deb

Todd,
I'd talk to your doctor. Far from containing cholesterol, some medical researchers believe that bananas *lower* blood cholesterol (not conclusively proven, but credible). It really sounds like your PA was giving you some really bad advice.
