I'm at the Krogers last night to pick up some Bananas and Apples and I decide to try a couple of Lady Alice Apples. If you like sweet firm Apples, then you will probably like this one. I have been eating Granny Smith Apples for the last 4 weeks, so this was nice for a change. |

Thanks Todd. I buy a lot of Pink Lady apples and Honeycrisp, and am trying to find Ambrosia apples but haven't seen them anywhere this year. The problem with apples for me is that most of the varieties we like are sold too big for my kids lunches and even the slower browning ones won't last till lunch. I've tried the water and lemon juice (or water and sprite) but they are admimant that they can taste the lemon! There's one grocery store that sells lunch size apples (brilliant marketing on their part) in a 3 pound bag. Now I need to go there today. |

The Granny Smith Apples that I buy at Kroger are small and I like them for that reason. They have Small Galas and Grannys 5 - $2.00. They also have Larger versions of both these Apples, but they are pretty large and a little pricier also. |

Jean, Have you tried soaking cut apples in pineapple juice? It is acidic enough to keep most apples from browning before lunch and not quite as sour as lemon juice. |

Jim, I have not but if I can find it cheaply enough will try, it's not a juice I keep around and I've only ever seen it in large (1.3 ish litre) cans. JB- ah, but I need to be able to send half of an apple...but thanks for looking and the thought! It looks like a cool idea. I did try once to use the corer/cutter and put it in a baggie but it didn't hold tight enough. My kids are big enough now that as long as the apple isn't ginourmous they can eat it without being cut by me. |

I found Ambrosia apples! Just as good as I remembered and local to boot. |
