I asked one of the proprietors at our local farmer's market which apples were the sweetest, the answer was Honey Crisp. Now they are my new favorite apple and consequently the main reason I frequent the farmer's market. I think they are $1.80-90/lb. Supermarket apples just don't compare. Dare I stockpile them for the winter?

I was at the Kroger again the other day and I bought a couple of Sweet Tango Apples. These were also very good. I have a couple of Courtlands sitting on my desk that are also very good this year.

Don't see why not. They have lasted for a few weeks just chucked into my fruit bowl, so if they were more carefully stored, I'd think they could go a month or two. We usually have them in the stores until December around here.
