Snow predicted for tonight. Grey and damp outside. I'm making bean soup tonight. Can't wait.

Fitzie,

Heck, even in San Francisco it's below freezing.

Split Pea Soup and Popovers tonight.

I declared soup season 2 weeks ago (even though it isn't all that cold). I started with potato soup and biscuits. Last week I made wedding soup and this week will be black bean with quesadillas. Looking forward to new ideas!

Shoot, it's very cold outside but the snow amounts to a light powdered sugar dusting. I was looking forward to a real snow. We'll have bean soup anyway!

We've had a few "fluffings" but no real snow. I would do soup, but I already got out the chuck roast, so tonight, stew.

I have a small amount of leftover Posole from the Denver Slow Food Holiday Potluck I hosted at my house on Sunday evening....it has come in handy.

Mary,

Wedding soup? Is that made with old veils and leftover cake?

We got our snow last night. Can't tell how much. It's so windy you can see grass on one side of the yard. The other side has drifts up to 18" or so. Couldn't get the front door open to get the morning paper. Bitterly cold. Lots of the schools have closed.

Potato soup tonight

Leftover cake, a garter and a dash of hope springing eternal.

Actually it is an Italian thing. Chicken soup with chicken, little meatballs, pastini , escarole, and egg and parm. cheese swirled through it. My kids wondered why it was called wedding soup. I figured because it was so festive but my daughter thought maybe soup was all you could afford to eat after paying for the wedding. Nothing for vegetarians I am afraid but tonight is I am doing the black bean soup so stop over if you wish.
