So there was this sale on lobster at a local store, and Mom asked I was into having a lobster dinner. And since she had 6 8 oz. tails in the freezer we could make lobster bisque as well. It sounded like fun, so we set up to do it this week. I thought it was on Wednesday, but it was on Tuesday instead. So I discovered that I was making lobster bisque at 2:30 and couldn't start on it until after 4:30. I weighed the tails a realized that I had enough to use one for an amuse/ app.
So we served:
Lobster rolls with mango-butter poached lobster tail and mango poached in vanilla syrup wrapped in a heavy phyllo type pastry and baked.
Lobster bisque-straight out of The New Basics. Very tasty, but somewhat fiddilly. Very very rich.
Boiled lobsters with drawn butter and baked potatoes and roasted beets.
Mom's plum cake and egg-nog ice cream.
I may not eat tomorrow to let some of the calories escape.
It was fun, if unexpected. And very tasty.

It sounds like my dream dinner....I could eat lobster anything, but prefer it just steamed with butter.

One of our stores had a sale on tails this sumer so I grabbed a few, froze them and made Lobster Mac & Cheese for my niece for her birthday....rich and creamy, but a bit hit!

In my next life I will be able to afford to eat lobster weekly, if not daily.

Becky - Sounds delicious. I love lobster and lobster bisque. What a feast!

Wegmans has lobster on sale for $6.99.

Becky,

Wow .... I'd say that you need to run at least a half-marathon after that.

It's been dungeness crab season here; so far I've had crab 3 ways: cold-cracked, sushi rolls and a crab omlet. Not in the same meal though.

Yum. Yum. Yum. Lobster fixed anyway is perfect in my book. Dungeness crab too! We may go over to Whole Foods this afternoon and splurge on some seafood. It's that or pizza delivered tonight. Happy New Year everyone.
