... would you answer a knock on the door to find your gay opera-singing neighbor there, asking to borrow a cup of extra virgin olive oil.

(of course, I had some. A selection, even)

Only in North Idaho:

"Hunting Supplies" directories are now posted at my local grocery store.
Chapstick Aisle 2
Jerky Aisle 3
Velveeta Aisle 1
Paper plates Aisle 9
Peanut Butter Aisle 4

etc etc. It was sort of a crack up. Extra Virgin Olive Oil was not on that list.

Here in Switzerland I have had neighbors (more than once) come to my door frantically searching for a container of that flammable paste stuff for fondue. Of course I had it, and it wouldn't have been hard to find if I hadn't.

Southfield is way too conservative. In K'zoo I got hugs and shrieks from a gay Ethel Merman Impersonator when I found a gown in his size five days before the Halloween Queen show. Never did find out what happened to his old gown...

Ugh ... I'm imagining something made with jerky, peanut butter, and velveeta ...

True dat, but Ferndale doesn't pay for college tuition, so I'm still lobbying for a move back to K'zoo. :)

Here they ask for ammo...perhaps to keep gay opera singers at bay??
