Is it just me, or have people completely forgotten how to knock on a bathroom door?

What's up with that?

Oh, nothing pmo faster. I was raised to knock before entering. At our house, I didn't bother to put a lock on our bathroom door...our bedroom/bath area is on the far side of the house and you go through the bedroom and then through double doors(ok, maybe that's why I didn't put a lock on there) into our bathroom. BOTH of my kids know to knock before entering a room if the door is closed. Why is it so many intelligent people don't think to extend that courtesy to me before walking into/through our store, barging in my office and plopping down. I am talking about "professional" people. Blows my mind. There, my rant for the day.

Because, Crystal, if they tell their little darlings that they cannot go wherever they want when they want, it will hurt their little feelings, and they will be labeled a bad parent.

To Fuzzy the OP on this one,
Maybe he was from France or Europe. I will never forget being in Europe in a shower/restroom facility at yacht harbors....the cleaning guys with the carts just come in unannounced. It's just the way they do it.

Oh, and they have beer for lunch too. In their blue coveralls.

Well, I think it depends on the type of bathroom. Is it a one-seater with a locking door? If so, the problem is that you didn't lock the door. If there is more than one seat, and a locking stall around at least one of those seats, lock yourself in that little cubicle and pretend to ignore the sounds coming from over there like the rest of us.

I was in the Mens room at Schipohl (sp) airport in Amsterdam and the cleaning LADY came right in and started mopping around the urinals. Kind of freaked me out.

To stay on topic, yes, we were taught to knock on doors, but at night all the bedroom doors were left open in our house.

Yup they do come right in and that is why we LOCK our doors. And Todd, in some places the pissoirs are right out in the open with just a little half wall for just a hint of privacy. How's that for socialism?

Mary,

I have a favorite memory of the alps. A young couple was holding hands at the edge of the mountain top overlook taking in the beautiful scenery, and yes, he was relieving himself.

I also remember the lovely restaurant in old Carcasonne with two doors in the hall marked hommes and dames. Yes they both entered the same large bathroom. The restaurant served "shrush" that evening and the lobby aviary was losing a lot of its color that evening.
