I got the last spot for the August 10 - 14th Basic Boot Camp at the CIA in New York. I am so excited. It's only 800 miles, so I will be able to ride my Harley and that's is going to make it even more awesome.

Yeah! you will have loads of fun. The campus has been so improved since I graduated in 94 that I'm not sure I'd know my way around any more. Or if any of my instructors are still there. If you get the chance go to any of the demos the students organize-they're lots of fun. Take a campus tour if they don't automatically give you one. Browse the library-it puts our puny cookbook collections in perspective.
We expect photos and updates!

Todd, I am so excited for you! And a little jealous too. I know this is like a dream come true for one of us foodies. We'll expect a minute by minute detailed report when you get home. And like Becky said, photo's lots and lots of photo's.Congratulations!

Laurie

While I don't have that level of passion I am extremely curious and wanting to read about your experience.

I am attending the American Bladesmith show in San Antonio this August to investigate a world about which I know nothing except that what they do and what they produce are both stunning. Bob Kramer (Kramer knives) will not be there but he did give a heads up on a knife maker who will be there, that was a chef, owned a restaurant and found his lifelong passion in making knives. I will buy that man a whole bunch of beers. Yes, my camera will be with me!!

I leave tomorrow. I am taking my laptop, so hopefully there is wireless somewhere on Campus so I can do daily postings.

Getting online shouldn't be a problem. Check out the library.

Thanks! I will do that.

Today was a rough day. I had to leave in the rain and it wasn't a fun ride. 11 hours later, I am in Salmaneca, New York. I still have 350 miles to ride tomorrow and the forecast is scattered showers. I was going to take some scenic routes, but I will probably stick to the main highway. Bummer.

More tomorrow if my motel has WI FI.
