The fabulous Ms. Amy suggested I get my tuchas over here and join the festivities. I should have known if anyone would bite the bullet and create a food board with the flavor and magic of the old days, it would be Josh :)

It's good to see some familiar faces that have been absent from the CI board. My new job and 3 hours per day commute have kept me away from the computer, but I think (hope) that things are settling down now and I can spend more time on the things I like!

Darcie,

3 hour commute? What, are you commuting to Columbus?

Josh:
Darcie and her husband have moved to Faribault, MN and Darcie commutes to Minneapolis for her new job. It's about an hour each way without traffic but add in traffic and construction and 90 minutes each way is reasonable. IIRC she was planning on riding a bus most of the way.

Yes, I now love in FRIGID Minnesota and have a 50 mile commute that takes 1.5 hours. I drive 30 miles and take the bus for the last 20 (parking is expensive and that's the closest park and ride.) I'm hoping to find work closer to home when the economy improves, but for now I have job security since I work for a bankruptcy attorney. ;)

We live in the town where DH has his job, at the HQ of the Royal Enfield importer/distributor. He may be promoted to General Manager, and if he gets paid what he's worth perhaps I can just work part time.

Hi Darcie, welcome to Minnesota. Hope you're not hating the weather too much. Have you had any time to check out local good meat sources?

Trinket -

Not yet, but I spied a little Latin mercadito (sp?) that advertised meats in a neighborhood next to my cousin's house (off Cedar Ave.) When the days start to get longer I will probably do some meat shopping but for now I'm driving enough in the dark, snow and wind to keep me occupied. One night last week I drove home at 35 mph, and passed 6 cars in the ditch within 20 miles. :o

Thank you so much for creating such an accessible board.

Janet,

You're welcome.

I'll forward at least 60% of your thanks to the great folks at the phpBB project (http://www.phpbb.com/), who have volunteered their time over the last 8 years to create easy-to-install, very full-featured free and open source bulletin board software.
