If I had a freezer I would buy from Sorg's. Otherwise I get my meat mostly from Valli produce in Rockford. They have some lamb, and even some ok fresh fish. Woodman's is alright as a place to get something for dinner, but they aren't nice to their produce at all.
Froggy's is great, but Highwood is not what I call the north side of Chicago. Unless they've moved?

I said North Shore, not north side.

Ah, sorry.
ETA: they exchanged my steak, but I later learned from a friend who does inspections on food establishments that their sanitation is shaky. So I cooked it more than I usually do. It was a nice steak, but nothing that special.

Glad to hear they exchanged your steak.

I live in the midst of pork and poultry country but it's hard to find decent meat. There are no butchers here and precious few people behind the meat counter even know how to cut the primals they receive in cryovac. There is a Jennie-O processing plant in my town, but I don't want that crap. There are a few small, local purveyors around but they are over 40 miles away and not at all convenient. I'm sure there must be a decent butcher in Minneapolis but darned if I can find one.
