I voted at 7:00 this morning. I was the 5th voter in our precinct. Now we can go back to all the Lawyer commercials on TV instead of the political ones.

I'm with Abigael..."I'm tired of Bronco Bamma and Mitt Romney".

4-year old crying over election

Living in a state that has been blue for the past six presidential elections has its advantages. We don't ever see presidential ads.

I had gotten so sick of those commercials that I had gotten to the point where I was not watching ANYTHING live - only recorded, so I could FF through those things. And I'd FF through the news to the weather, since 3/4 of it has been about campaigns around here.

We had 4 federal elections in 7 years due to minority governments (parliament system here). Not fun.

I find the all-or-nothing state scheme (for most states anyway) very very weird. Imagine, if it was a more proportional (and, IMO, democratic) system where the state electors were granted based on proportion of votes what a difference in stance and campaign it would make. I think it would encourage much more moderate stances and the candidates would need to campaign for all Americans, not just the ones in swing states.

It baffles me, and I suspect most people in democratic countries, and the US would choose such a bizarre -- and open for abuse -- system where local policies determine federal results.

Thrilled to see so many people out voting this morning. I don't recall ever seeing the poll so crowded.

Paul,

Many Americans find it weird as well. The electoral college is becoming increasingly obviated.

Ditto...time for a change, but those in power might not see it that way, depending on the outcome of this election. In any case, I will welcome toilet paper and tampon commercials instead of the political ones. Being in a swing state has been awful. I, too, have been watching things on DVR so I can skip the ads.

I don't watch anything but kids' shows on PBS. I'll be glad to be done with Elmo and Daniel Tiger explaining voting to preschoolers. I'll also be happy to see the Snorg Tees ads on Cracked.com again.
