Hi guys!
How y'all been? Pretty good here. Ravenous, actually! As luck would have it, I planned our summer vacation. Two weeks at the beach. Atlantic Beach NC. :? Anyway, there is one of those long screw up stories but I'll spare Rod. Electricity is restored and curfew is lifted. I'll let you know if I trip over a good local restaurant. Suggestions welcome, we are still here thru Sunday.

Crystal, glad you are OK. At least the kids will have a good story to tell when they go back to school. Eat some fresh seafood for me; I sure can't find any here.

Frank, didn't Irene do enough to Virginia? ;)

We drove to Syracuse from Toronto on Sunday. Took 7 hours between line ups at the border, bathroom breaks, windshield wiper issues. Weather wasn't that bad. Then we left there at 9 am for a 4.5 hour drive to Norwich CT. We arrived here at 6:30. 4 hours of that spent waiting for roads to open. :(
Now we are here....but apparently there is not much to do since the beaches are for the most part closed and/or inaccessible and the holiday inn we booked (on points, so at least it's free) does not live up to the picture . Am trying to convince DH to just drive to NYC tomorrow and stay at my brothers for 2 days. We shall see.
Oh, and we ate at the Olive Garden yesterday. What can I say, I'm a sucker for that salad! Stay safe everyone.

I used to live in Norwich CT. 4.5 hours to Syracuse is somewhat optimistic in good weather. I did the drive to Ithaca a few times.

(And that Holiday Inn didn't look new in the early 80s...)

Nothing of interest happened here in Oceanside. At least not to me and my family. The power was out at the warehouse when we got to it today, but just as we got the generator hooked up, it came back on!
