Please stay out of my kitchen
From my dishwashing, cooking and such.
You are kind to have offered to help me
And I do want to thank you so much

I hope you won't think me ungracious
When I ask that you leave me alone.
For my kitchen is not very spacious
And my system is strictly my own.

So please, stay out of my kitchen,
It may well prevent a few wars.
And when I'm invited to your house,
I promise to stay our of yours

Consider printing this out in a fancy font on the computer, and framing it in your kitchen.......

Perhaps you should just run around naked in your kitchen. Except when you are cooking bacon.

Darcie,

I am seldom naked in the kitchen.

I generally find it helpful to have guests help clean up. In fact, we have a general rule for friends in our generation (and younger): first visit you're a guest and get to sit and drink wine after dinner, after that you're washing/drying.

Why this works for us is that we supervise cleanup. It's the only way it can work. So if this guy is screwing up washing, then put him on drying dishes. Or cleaning surfaces.

K,
My mother-in-law (she of the plum tart) has that poem in her kitchen. In their entry way they have a little plaque that reads "Fish and guests stink after 3 days". All in all, it is a very welcoming atmosphere. All they need for a party is pitchforks and guard dogs.

My aunt, who died at the age of 94, also had the fish and company plaque, but she abided by it herself, so no complaints. I just don't like people in my kitchen. I have ADHD (seriously, diagnosed and everything) and having people in the kitchen causes things to be forgotten and burned, or just forgotten, period.

No ADHD over there, they just aren't that into people. I realize I am unusual in that I deal well with chaos and crowds. I suck when left to my own devices though...
