Oh my goodness. I'm betting the realtor is rolling her eyes at this. It appears they have enough money for a housekeeper so why not hire one!

Yeah, but look at that pool! Wow.

You get a lot of house in Los Vegas for $875,000. For comparison, in San Francisco, that would get you maybe an 1700sqft. flat. With parking if you're lucky.

Anyway, for anyone who is having trouble with it, here's direct links to the images:

And cheap property taxes. Here in Bay City, a house valued at half that much would be $12,000 a year in taxes.

Cheap residential property taxes here in Colorado too. Our house here is worth about 25% more than our house in NY was, and our taxes are over 75% lower. Gotta love it...

This reminds me of the time when I was doing some private cheffing. Brand new kitchen renovation, extremely expensive house. Only they hadn't seen the need to put in any ventilation. When the fire department showed up (I had been searing veal shanks for osso buco and didn't realize the smoke detector was connected to the fire house), they told me that it is amazing how many expensive kitchensare built with no concept of real cooking. (They were quite nice—I gave him and his colleagues some of the truffles I had made for dessert, and we had a good laugh.) But why do these kitchens seem so hypocritical to me?

Maybe it's the counter full of jars of preserved food nobody will ever eat. Or maybe, it's the fact that almost as much space is dedicated to the displayed of tchotchkes as to storage. Really, empty out the clutter, and it's still pretty obvious this room was never designed for work. It's like one giant grease-catcher with all those nooks and crannies, carvings on the wood-work, and that rough stone whatsit right next door.
