Frank - Our thoughts and best wishes are with you. Don't freeze the little parts and please let us know how the great adventure turns out. Having taught English as a Second Language to quite a few Russians and Latvians, I can be pretty confidant that your chili will be a great hit. I've got a bottle of vino waiting to be opened in celebration!

Thanks..means a lot...

Our "last piece of paperwork arrives in St Pete. today...then it is up to the judge to set the court date. Then we go get our two bundles of joy. A look at the weather yesterday revealed -15 F yikes!!

Kinda early for you to be on the sauce isn't it??

Layers! You want plenty of layers, and I don't mean chickens. A sweater over a long-sleeved tee will do you better than one really heavy fleece vest.
Congratulations on parenthood! And enjoy the most snow you'll see in a long time.

Not vino -- vodka! -- if you can put it in pie crusts and pasta sauces -- what's wrong with putting it in chili?

Wino,

Алкоголь слишком много вина или водки вызовет ваш крови тонких, и у Вас будет мораторий на смертную казнь!

While Russia has not experianced my chili, they have enjoyed Marilyns toffee, I distributed 6 lbs the last trip...I will take more this round.

Frank
Follow the advice and bring layers. I have a friend who just got back and said she was freezing all the time.
Safe travels with the new little bundles and send us photos....

DBM - You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning!

Speaking of layers reminds me of those cute liquer drinks we slowly poured over the back of a teaspoon, one on top of the next. I haven't a clue why we spent so much time working on them since I seem to recall that we shot them down the hatch in one BIG GULP! :D

Try a quick shot (one gulp) of Russian vodka (super chilled) followed by the smelling of a dill pickle and then eating it right away. I know it sounds weird, but it WORKS.

P.S. I taught them English, they taught me to party. Only after uncountable drinks was I able to understand Russian. The Latvians are just as bad...!
