Kae,
First off, like the others i'm sorry for the loss of your friend.
Second, I don't eat offal. I'm squeamish that way and would probably privately retch and ralph after eating it even if it was amazing, which I'm sure your tongue was. But I would hope that I'd have the grace not to show that to you. I'd probably even take the recipe....then burn it. The only time I've had liver was at a cooking class I signed up for. My thought was that I signed up for it, it was only polite to sample.
Then again I had no problem handling casings for sausage this weekend and have eaten my fair share of raw beef and marrow. It's just offal....can't handle the thought of it.

We had a similar moment in my family. although not prompted by a funeral. I gave my dad a slice of pumpkin bread with cream cheese and he loved it. I told him what it was, and he replied "That can't be pumpkin bread, I hate pumpkin bread!"Your friends were rude, and it's too bad that they couldn't see their way to liking something tasty even after they knew where it came from.
