I am part of the Pie Extremist Group. We meet... and eat pie. The Pie Extremist Group has only one statement: pie=love. With all the craziness in our world, it's great to have fun, happy events now and then where people can gather and simply enjoy each other and good pie.

The Pie Extremist Group and 111 Minna Gallery invite you to join us for a unique celebration of St. Valentine’s Day at the Second Annual St. Valentine Sweetie Pie and Art Fest! Bring Pie – Eat Pie!

*Feel free to spread the word and invite people*

History
St. Valentine (actually, there were two Valentine’s, martyred around the same time) was a priest and a physician in Rome , who was martyred around the year of 269, during the reign of Claudius Gothicus. According to legend, when Valentine was in prison, he sent notes of love and encouragement, and possibly pies, to the people of his community, who lived in fear of persecution. He was beaten with clubs and stoned, and, when that didn't finish him off, he was beheaded outside the Flaminian Gate. Later, in the Middle Ages, people believed that birds began choosing their mates on this day, for the springtime. So Valentine’s Day came to be thought of as the perfect day for sending tokens of love and for choosing a special sweetie pie.

All -

Please do not click on the image which is a link until it has been further verified. When I followed it my system (IE, XP3) froze. I had to exit IE and start over. This may be legit but you don't need the hassle.

Further, the first link in the message goes to the web site for the image. The second link goes to security information for FaceBook - why, I don't know.

The event seems legit, but the link to the page at Minna Gallery's website seems to be wrong. Yeah, I chanced it. I'm using Chrome and feeling invincible today.

The second link appears to just be their Facebook page. At least, I wasn't asked any personal questions or anything. I was already signed into Facebook, so it didn't ask for my password, though I assume it would if I weren't.

Besides, Ms. Evans has Theda Bara as her Facebook avatar. How cool is that?

Tara,

Thank you for the invitation! Sadly, I already made a date for Saturday night, although it's to take my father to the Russian Food Festival, so it's not like I won't be having good dessert. Do you have other events?

(In Kris's words: "But ... pie! Pie!")

Wino,

I checked it out using Linux on Chrome, it all seems OK to me. The Facebook link was just miscopied/broken, so I fixed it. The image is just a link to a larger image, stored on the board; she uploaded it. Besides, I've heard of this group before.

Yes, thanks Tara!

Let us know how the event goes ... and if there are future events for the PEG.
