 OK, guys. Let's pick a day & start planning! Pete & I have listed what works for us, now we need your imput.

Nancy, this is just a day, not a weekend. You could still go to NY on Sun & water or whatever.

A Sunday would work best for me - I can accomplish what I need to do upstate Friday and Saturday and take the train back to NYC late Sat and then train NYC to Philly Sunday. But I don't want to hold the group hostage to that day if it's not the best for everyone else.

Sunday is best for me, but I'm not sure what is closed Sundays now. Most things I go to are opened - the Asian and Italian markets - but the Italian closes at 1:00, at least some of the older places, like Fante's. We would just have to map out a course, and check in advance, maybe.

Just checked the site; Fante's definitely closes at 1 on Sundays...The Reading Terminal Market is open 9-4, but not all the vendors are open that day (most notably missing are the Amish stands)

:D Martha
would you be willing to organize this outing? You seem to be very familiar with the public transit. I am sure that Deb & Dave would help you with the details. But, we need someone to be the point man. Deb :& Dave, sorry if I put you on the spot. You can always say that it's your mom's bday & you have other commitments.

Wha...whoa...huh :o
Did we pick a date?
What exactly do we want to do?
Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? Brunch? Any combination thereof?

No, we don't have a date. Just throw some out there. I think peeps will want to go Fante's & the other Italian shops. Probably the Asian market & Reading terminal. I don't care what we eat or when, just so it is good.

Pete admonished me for "dumping" this on you. That really wasn't my intent. We just need someone in the area to ck times of openings & transit. I am sure I can find a restaurant unless someone else has an idea. I think if we are going to do a Sun, we will have to start early if places close @ 1. My suggestions would be Reading Market first, then the Italian market & then the Asian market. Then eat.

If it's Sunday, I'd do the South Philly stuff in the morning, as they seem to be the ones that close early...we'd still have time to hit the RTM in the afternoon
