All,

I've just found the place in the board controls where I can change the requirement for how long a nickname needs to be. I noticed that a couple of people wanted shorter ones.

Werner, others, do you care about this now? Should I change it and you can change your nicknames?

No, not for me, first I think I would lose the record of posts made and I do use Charcuteire on, I think, the Google Blogger log on. It is also my blog name.

NTSC is the acronym for the television system that will cease major use in the US on the morning of Feb. 17, 2009. At that time you will need an HDTV, cable, satellite or a converter box with antenna. For the latter, you can get a card from the federal government that will give you a $40 discount, but the card expires 90 days after issue.

I also post elsewhere as Charcuteire (with misspelling) and have a blog under that name.

In general I think it would be beneficial to reduce the required number of letters. That way someone could register as Pete or Tom. I considered using Pete (didn't know about the 6-letter minimum) but I decided to keep it the same as on CI. A fair number of usernames on CI are 3 or 4 letters, for what that's worth.

Warner, Pete,

You wouldn't lose the record of your posts under the current name. phpBB is a little more sophisticated than that -- you can use the User Control Panel to change your login name, and your old posts will change with it.

Number of letters required reduced to 3. Required password length (6 letters) unchanged.

Fuzzy,

I would like a reduced number of characters. I've used my full name for registration here, and I'd really just prefer to use my first name.
