Members:

As you know, I've generally turned down donations to run the board because it's actually very cheap to host and run it. Today, though, I have a reason to want funds to improve the board, so I'm appealing to you to support this effort.

Here's what we want to accomplish:

1. Adding antispam and sercurity mechanisms so that we can re-open the board for new members (it's been closed for over a year): about $400 (breakdown: $300 programming, $50 test server hosting, $50 StopForumSpam and Akismet memberships)

2. Moving the board to a new, faster and more reliable server: $50

If we collect more than $450, I'll figure out a good use for the additional funds; maybe installing a mobile theme for the board so that you don't have to use the Tapatalk app if you don't want to. Suggestions of things you'd like to see are welcome!

The work will be done by our own Geekboy. Part of what I'm hoping to get out of this is another board member who can hack/fix the board code, so this is a long-term investment.

Depending on how things go, I might have some kind of freebie in return for your donation courtesy of Todd Hart. No promises, though!

How to Donate:

Check Drawn on US or Canadian Bank:

Josh Berkus
2166 Hayes St. Suite 200

(do not leave out the suite number!)

Credit Card:

PayPal:

PM Amy about how to make a PayPal donation.

Wire/Dwolla/Bitcoin/Farm Fresh Eggs:

PM me to ask (frankly, I'd rather have the eggs ...)

In order to keep paypal costs down (the sender pays or makes the recipient pay) I can collect the Canadian donations if desired, or if Wino wants to collect as an admin that works too. You already lose 10% on our dollar, no need to lose more!

Canadians - let me know.

Becca may just take you up on that, although sadly, she just lost a number of hens.

Jean, Canadians:

My bank will accept Canadian checks without a surcharge. They just take a couple weeks to release the funds.

And I just noticed that you will take credit cards on your site. Totally missed that the first time. Easier and way faster than a cheque.

Jean,

For once, something which isn't harder/more expensive to buy from the US! ;-)

Actually, the Board is currently hosted in Canada, in fact.

Unfortunately, your site does not properly process Canadian contributions; after entering my address it informs me that it can't proceed because the site does not ship donations to Canada, hence, I cannot continue onto 'payment' information.

Wino,

Really? WTF?

Oh. Apparently I had to add a Canadian "shipping" option. Try again?
