All,

So the board was down, in all, some 48 hours. This was due to a combination of factors, all of which were problems at the current hosting center. While our server host was not entirely to blame for the problems (there was a DDOS attack as part of it), they are certainly to blame for some of them -- and for the prior downtimes this season.

As such, we will be moving to a new web host (gandi.net) in the near future. I will announce that move ahead of time; it's liable to be in late December.

Also, note that I have taken to posting board downtime information in the "culinary" Facebook group.

Some of us are friends on FB, and we have a group called Culinary. People post things there when this board isn't really the venue for a question, or when the board goes down.

Josh,

I was thinking about this last night - since you are dealing with a hosting service, you are obviously paying hosting fees. Is there a mechanism in place to donate to keeping the board running? I'd be glad to kick in - I find this to be a very valuable forum.

Thanks,

Tim:
It's a closed group, which means that any of your FB friends who are in the group can add you.

It looks like you never accepted my friend request.
