Board members,

You may not have noticed it -- because my fellow moderators are so quick -- but we've had rather a deluge of spammer registrations lately. I suspect the cause is the demise of the CI Board (all those spammers had to go somewhere). These are human spammers, not bots.

Anyway, I've made some small settings changes to make things more difficult for human spammers.

1. You can only post once every 30 seconds.

2. Editing time for your own posts is limited to 2 days.

My apologies if this inconveniences anyone. Both of these changes do address common patterns in human spammer behavior.

Thanks, Josh.

You guys do such a great job of catching them that it's pretty much invisible to us. Perfect moderation = the members don't notice it.

I hope the changes make it easier on y'all.

Thanks for keeping on top of this. Can you let one or two slip by once in a while though for the sheer pleasure of reading JesBelle's response?

That's why I'll never be a great chef. I do my best work with spam. ;)

You just need to move to Hawaii.

So I'm working on this recipe for Spam Pizza. With a world full of spammers, I figure it's an easy shot to my first million. Actually, like in Hawaii, it is still very popular in the Philippines where there is no such thing as "mystery meat". Even Serious Eats gave Spam a bit of nod recently.

So glad to hear you are limiting the spammers, I'm all for it. Just let me sell them a pizza on the way out! ;)

Thanks, Fuzzy, for restricting the spam to the grocery shelves rather than here.
