"Chili" is a stew made with either beef and peppers, or peppers, beans and pork.

"Chile" is either a pepper, or a country (and peppers from that country are "Aji"). It is not a stew. But ... Kenji's from the Northeast, you have to excuse his misuse of Southwestern terms.

Wino, if you're clicking "View New Posts", new posts are "posts since I last logged in". To just look at recent stuff regardless of when you last logged in, click "View Active Topics". I don't find "new posts" that useful, myself.

Oh, and cornbread, please. ;)

when I logged on this morning there were about 12-15 new post threads showing. That was too many as I had to workout so I logged off. I came back 45 minutes later, login and there are only two threads. WHAT HAPPENED? I never opened any of the first group. Usually, that ain't how it works. :?:
Maybe I'm in a minority, but I don't use the "new posts" feature. Instead what I do is pay attention to the icons on the threads and fora.
On the home page, a forum with no unread posts has this icon at the left side: Image
While a foum with unread posts has this icon: Image

So then I click on the forum with unread posts. In that forum the threads with unread posts are again marked with a pink-colored icon: Image
as opposed to a thread where I've read all of the posts, which has no icon. Clicking on the pink icon takes me directly to the first unread post in that thread.

This way I can read all of the new messages in the entire board in the span of a couple of minutes. If I forget and skip over a thread or two it will remain marked as unread the next time I visit the board. The disadvantage is that I end up reading the entire board, including some threads I don't particularly care for. On the other hand, around here you never know what direction a thread will take, so it's all good. :)

I'll post cornbreads (under a new thread ;) ) later as I now have the joy of dealing with a leaking interior ceiling due to a lovely ice jam on an eave outside. Did I ever mention my love of 'winter'?

I also use "View active topics", much more reliable and lets me pick and choose when I read stuff without it falling off the radar right away.
