I'm going to suck it up and buy a chamber vacuum. Thing is, I do not have the counter space for it, so I need to buy a rolling cart, preferably stainless steel, and don't want it to cost a fortune.

The unit is 14W x 20D x 15H. I would like the shortest possible unit I can. (Trying to avoid the chamber vacuum sitting too far above the counter the cart would be sitting beside.)

Anyone have suggestions?

Amy

This may sound odd, but have you tried a home improvement store? I got a rolling chrome and wood table that I keep in the tool closet as a workbench. It was certainly inexpensive and very sturdy. I can see it being repurposed to the kitchen one day, too.

There is actually a website called something like kitchencarts.com. I found it helpful to just get ideas, although I got mine locally after a bunch of looking.

Lynn,

I have seen it, but am not the most patient person, so had trouble navigating it.

Home Despot and Lowes can both be your friend here. If one of the carts already available won't do, you can get the parts separately and build it. If you use pipe that has been threaded you can just screw it together using plumbing connectors, and add casters to the bottom of the legs. A piece of 3/4" plywood will do for a top. If the item is really heavy, double up the top. Attach it to the frame with cable ties that run through holes drilled around the edge, or you can use airplane cable and lace it all the way around.

Amy,

Also, Metro brand shelving I believe carries some cart options. If that's too expensive, what about Ikea?

I'm stoked! Finally found exactly what I was looking for...

It's an InterMetro unit, that I "built" on my own, and will fit perfectly. And, it's less than $200!

Me happy. Finally getting the chamber vac off the milk crate Andy put next to the island. :D

Okay, I'm sure you guys probably find this pretty boring, but I'm SO happy to have my chamber vac out of the kitchen and into the pantry. Doesn't look like much, but for me...it's perfect. Clara's food fits so perfectly underneath..

Me happy.
